Bert S. Hershberger, 74, of Danville, Ill died at 7:05 a.m. Thursday Sept 24, 1992 at Veteran Affairs Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1918 in Veedersburg, the son of Myrd and Maggie (Darnell) Hershberger. He married Clara Nixon on June 28, 1947 in Chicago. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Breite of Phoenix, AZ and Betty (Dale) Byers of Union Grove, Wisc; two brothers, Floyd (Rose) Hershberger and Walter Hershberger both of Danville, Ill.; two sisters, Onda Green and Margaret (Harley) Newell, both of Danville, Ill; four grandchildren, a great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson and sister. He was a US Navy vet of WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter and contractor in Danville area many years. He was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge 38, Scottish Rite Bodies and Gao Grotto. Life member of Amvets where he was past commander from 1986-87. He was a life member of DAV. He was the past business agent for local carpenter's union. Visitation was Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home. Services on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Byers officiating. Interment at Danville National Cemetery.
